You are welcome to visit the Centre.

Home Based learners receive their work via:
  • email
  • occasionally meeting with their teachers
  • telephone chats
  • or by collecting work from the NETschool Centre.

Home Based learners regularly talk with their mentor in the same way.

    Motivational Outside Value Experience (MOVE)
This is the Personal Development program for home based learners.
One of its main focuses is to encourage learners out of their homes.
We have created opportunities for the learners to meet other people, as well as access expert help.
For example: the young parenting group have had the opportunity to meet with a Maternal Health Nurse on a number of occasions.
MOVE - Open Sessions are held once a week for Home Based learners to attend the Centre to:
    *meet with their mentor
    *meet other Home Based learners
*talk with teachers if taking formal classes
*be involved in personal development activities

The MOVE program is the only compulsory program at NETschool.

Home Based learners are sometimes required to attend sessions at the NETschool Centre.

Home Based Learning students receive if required, free of charge, the following:
  • A computer.

  • An internet connection.

  • A Printer.

Learners are supported via the Online Community which is used to meet and chat with other NETschool learners, join in discussions, access resources and complete an online learning journal.

Recognition of Achievement evening 2008.
Home Based Achiever of the Year 2008.

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you have had anything to do with NETschool at all, I am sure you are all very aware of the values by which we set our mantle - TRUST, HONESTY and COMMITMENT. This year's Home Based Achiever of the Year, whom I am about to speak of, has taken these values and made them her own.

When this young woman first came to NETschool things looked very different for her. Watching her this evening, I can hardly believe this poised young woman is the same person.

She was in fact one of our inaugural members way back in 2005, when she started in the Centre.  And quickly proved herself to be a trusted member of the NETschool community and a valued friend to learners and mentors alike. When she moved into the Home Based program, it was her desire for learning and flexible approach to studies that helped her stay connected under some very difficult circumstances.
Her life is bigger than most young women of the same age, with looking after her family, balancing her health, as well as working and studying. That her family has remained her top priority during this time is testament to the values she has developed and worked hard to maintain. She is an inspiration to many young mothers with regards the commitment and dedication she has shown over the last four years in all aspects of her life.  She has worked just as hard at building her parenting skills, as she has at completing her homeopathic studies and her VCE.

Under particularly difficult conditions she has been able to stay focused on her academic goals, and achieve what many other young people might take for granted and it is with great personal pleasure that I have the opportunity to see she complete her VCE studies this year. Her Bendigo Senior SC teachers also share this pleasure and have asked me to pass on their congratulations this evening.
What a remarkable young woman she has grown into during the last four years. She has become a valued member of the NETschool community in both home based and centre based programs, and it will be a large gap left by such a petite person. During this time, we have watched her grow in confidence and assurance, to become a wonderful partner and mother, as well as a friend to many of us at NETschool.

It is with great pride and pleasure that we see her complete her studies after remaining committed and focused on her goal during this period. It has not been an easy road, but one she has travelled well. This has led to a well rounded young woman most able to achieve anything she sets her mind to in the future. Even though we will all miss her and the energy she brings, we wish her well. All of us at NETschool are extremely proud of all that she has accomplished. I hold this truly inspirational, resourceful young woman, in the highest esteem, and it has been my personal pleasure to work so closely with her throughout the last four years.

Congratulations Laurie Bennett, for achieving NETschool's Home-Based Achiever of the Year for 2008.

Jacqui Fitzpatrick.
Mentor.
