The NETschool Centre is at BRIT Building A, 136 McCrae Street, Level 3.

Learners work at the centre four days per week.

The fifth day gives the opportunity to:

  • complete work placements,
  • meet individually with mentors,
  • complete extension work.

Learners work closely with their mentor who:

  • assists learners and families to complete their Personal Learning Plans setting clearly their achievable goals,
  • provides daily guidance and suggestions for work completion,
  • work with learners on interest-based individual projects to reignite a passion for learning.

Motivational Outside Value Experiences

Our Personal Development program is designed to help our learners 'MOVE' forward with their lives, and work on skills to help them conquer any obstacles in their quest for success.

Learners build on self-esteem, confidence, team work, motivation, goal setting, ownership of behaviour and much more.

The MOVE program is a compulsory component of NETschool for all Centre Based Learners.
Activities include:
Team Building
Community Service
Sport and Activities
Career Pathways
Healthy life choices

Learners are welcome to use the Bendigo Regional Institute of TAFE (BRIT) facilities such as the library and canteen as well as having access to a wide range of facilities and specialised support staff at Bendigo Senior Secondary College.

Recognition of Achievement evening 2008.
Centre Based Achiever of the Year 2008.

"Health, happiness and success depend upon the fighting spirit of each person. The big thing is not what happens to us in life - but what we do about what happens to us." George Allen
For me, this sums up our Centre Based Achiever of the Year beautifully. He has been with us since the end of 2006 and I have been lucky enough to have worked with him over the last 18 months. It is difficult to put into words how much I admire his ongoing determination and courage throughout this time.

The thing I love most about my job is the inspirational people I have the privilege of working with.  Our Centre Based Student of the year is one of these people - he has faced challenges with such maturity and has refused to let anything get in the way of his goals.  I have watched him grow from a shy, quiet boy into an outgoing, resilient, thoughtful young man.

Academically he has achieved so much.  However, as we all know, without life skills, academic success means very little. His success can be attributed to a combination of factors - decision making, reflection and active listening - and he has embraced the values of trust, honesty and commitment.  His commitment to his education has been unwavering and he is trusted by mentors and peers alike.  What is most impressive about his honesty is that he is not only honest with others - he is honest with himself.  He takes responsibility for his own actions and he understands that there are times when asking for guidance is the key to moving forward.

Deaken Stevenson, I want to congratulate you on your incredible achievements and thank you for being such a positive influence over others.  You have been an incredible role model in so many ways - your drive, your kindness and your willingness to push yourself as well as support others has been unwavering. You have a sharp sense of humour, thought provoking ideas and a strong sense of self and we are so grateful that you will remain linked in with NETschool in 2009, as you take on more of a 'mentor' role by organising the very first NETschool Art Exhibition.  On behalf of NETschool mentors and learners, I would like to thank you for sharing your journey with us and congratulate you on being the Centre Based Achiever of the Year for 2008.

Kat Andrews
